When it came to looking for the perfect location to shoot my cushions I could not have picked anywhere more suited than The Looking Glass Lodge.
As well as being a stunning design for which it has received two RIBA awards, it had so much alignment with what I am trying to do. It is sustainable and ethical and it is local.
Nestled in a piece of woodland in East Sussex lies The Looking Glass Lodge, a thing of tranquility and beauty. The use of natural materials is breathtaking and when you step into the space you feel an instant feeing of calm and serenity. It takes the feeling of walking through the woods to a new level and rather than loose that feeling you get to sit in it and ponder nature, the seasons, light and life.
The care, love and attention to detail that has gone into this build is without fault. I felt the neutral colour palette of the space allowed my designs to shine as well as somehow blend in with the modern look with a nod to tradition and craftsmanship.
Just over an hour outside of London this is a retreat from modern life and its stress, a placer to relax and reflect without interruption or intrusion.
To be honest it was quite difficult to focus fully on the day as you are constantly drawn to the glorious outside and it’s hidden treasures.
I for one will be back again, hopefully next time to fully decompress and relax.
